A Suite of Sweets

After planning/attending one of the most influential and prestigious midwest regional conference (MEEC) last month, I thought it would be appropriate to discuss the wonderful wine choices we had available during the reception and banquet.

St. James Winery is a local Missouri winery with a really obnoxious website.  However, they have some of the most ridiculously sweet wines I've ever had.

The Velvet Red is on par with Sweet Walter, though is a little more fruity. It's made from Concord Grapes and is one of my new favorite wines from the area.  Velvet White is made from a variety of American grapes, and is a little more tart than the Red.  Both are best served chilled, and would be good with dessert- chocolate cake!

Sweet Walter Wine (da da da)

Sweet Walter Rose from Bully Hill Wines in New York State.

Delicious, off-the-chart sweet rose made from Catawba & Castell grapes.  The taste is very fruity, mainly strawberry and a slightly tart aftertaste.  At $11 for a 1.5 L bottle, this wine makes me want to move back to New York.
